Sushant Singh Rajput Death: Foul Play Or Not? Mumbai Police Clarifies

It was yesterday when Sushant Singh Rajput was cremated by his father who flew to Mumbai from Patna. Bollywood celebs like Kriti Sanon, Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Sharma, and Rhea Chakraborty attended the funeral.

There have been baseless reports about the presence of foul-play in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. But Police have clearly denied any such rumours. Cause of his death has been stated death as asphyxia, due to hanging.

Home Minister Anil Deshmukh took to his Twitter and tweeted: “While the post mortem report says actor @itsSSR committed suicide by hanging himself, there are media reports that he allegedly suffered from clinical depression because of professional rivalry. @MumbaiPolice will probe this angle too.”

Abhishek Trimukhe who is the DCP (Zone IX) revealed that Bandra police have got the provisional post-mortem report. In a report published on TOI, Trimukhe said, “A team of three doctors (at R N Cooper Hospital) conducted Rajput’s autopsy and the provisional cause of death as asphyxia due to hanging.” It’s also been said that police didn’t get any suicide note from the location.

TOI also quoted a Bandra police officer saying that he didn’t suspect any financial problem in Sushant Singh Rajput’s case. The officer said, “Rajput’s sister said she frequently visited his flat and stayed over. She had gone to her Goregaon home only a few days ago. She too said he had no financial problems but he was undergoing treatment for depression for the past six months. His friend Shetty said the actor had called him early on Sunday but he did not pick up. He said if he had, the situation might have been different.”

One of the doctors performing the post-mortem process said, “It’s a clear case of suicide by hanging. There were no other injuries on his body.” Dr Sachin Sonawane, Dr Shivkumar Kolle and Dr Sandeep Ingale performed the post-mortem.

An expert added, “The team looked at the crime scene and gathered evidence to conclude whether it was a homicidal or suicidal hanging. It’s a part of the standard protocol. They will also examine the cloth used for the act through a tensile testing machine to evaluate its strength. This too is done routinely.”

Sushant Singh Rajput’s phone has been currently investigated at a forensic laboratory. The experts are trying to gather all the call details to see if there’s anything hidden.
